Smithing Guide

Smithing is one of the most interesting Tradeskills in the game, and is often used in conjunction with Mining. It is divided into two parts: Smelting and Forging. Smelting is the act of putting some ore (like Iron Ore) into a furnace in order to turn it into a bar (like an Iron Bar). Forging is the act of crafting bars into useful items, usually weapons and armor. This guide will teach you about both components of Smithing.

Introduction
The Smithing process from crafting ores into weapons/armor is basically like this: you Smelt some Ores into Bars, then you forge the Bars into Weapons and Armor. So, to get started, you'll probably want some Ores, such as Iron Ore, which can be obtained through Mining or can be purchased from other players. Alternatively, you can just buy Bars directly from other players and Forge them, bypassing the Smelting process, but since both give you Smithing experience, you will probably want to Smelt your ores yourself.
When you have ores or bars ready, go to a Blacksmith Hut such as the one on the Birth Island map or the one on the Atlantis Island map. Blacksmith Huts have furnaces and anvils which you can use to craft your items. Ask a blacksmith at a hut for more information on how to do that.
Smelting Chart
Here's a list of all the items you can currently smelt in the game with the Smithing skill. Level refers to the minimum Smithing level required to make the item. Base Chance refers to the chance of success at the first possible Smithing level that you can create the item, and the + Chance is the chance added on top of that for each level on top of the first possible level. For example, at Smithing level 5, you have a (30% + 4x8%) = 62% chance of successfully smelting an Iron Bar.

Base Chance refers to the chance of success at the first possible Smithing level that you can create the item, and the + Chance is the chance added on top of that for each level on top of the first possible level. For example, at Smithing level 15, you have a (20% + 3X5%)= 35% chance of successfully forging an Steel Cap Helmet.
