Monster Natures

When you catch a monster, you'll notice that it has a random Nature in its stats, such as "Modest Nature" or "Calm Nature." There are 15 Natures total; when you catch a monster, its Nature is randomly chosen as one of those 15 Natures.

This page will teach you about what natures do. The page also contains a chart of the natures and which stats they affect.

What does the Nature do?

When your pet monster levels up, its stat points are distributed randomly. You can't choose your stat points like you can when you yourself level up. However, knowing which Natures to use can help you improve the odds of certain stats going up. That way, you have some say in which stats go up.

Which stats are best for my monster?

It all depends on your monster's Ability. Different abilities are affected by different stats, such as Bootworm's First Strike ability, which deals more damage when the Bootworm's Strength increases. So for a Bootworm, you want its Strength stat as high as possible because its ability is affected by Strength-- the other stats don't matter at all to a Bootworm, so if your Bootworm's Defense goes up, it won't change anything. Other monsters rely on other stats, such as Orbulites which rely on Defense. Some monsters even rely on multiple stats, such as Sea Dragons which rely on both Agility and HP.

How much does a Nature increase a stat's odds?

Your monster's stats have at least a 19% chance of going up on any given level-up. Since you gain 5 stat points for each level up in early levels, that means that each stat will go up, on average, a little less than 1 point per level up. However, it's still completely random, so you'll want to be lucky when your monster levels up.

Your nature increases that chance by 5%. For example, Serious nature increases Strength's odds, so a Serious monster has a 24% chance of each stat point going up.

Dual-stat Natures

Some natures affect two stats rather than just one. In this case, the odds go up by 2.5% each instead of 5%. Dual-stat Natures are good for some monsters whose abilities rely on two separate stats.

Nature Chart

The first 5 Natures are single-stat Natures (meaning they only improve one stat), and the rest are Dual-stat Natures (where the improvement is divided between the two stats).
